An evening on the beach.

We had a great relaxing evening on the beach. This is the same beach the second photo taken half an hour after the first.  It looks like two completely different places. It is going to be 39 tomorrow so I think we will be going back tomorrow night.

Christmas card using a logo.

I designed a logo for a client recently and when she asked me to design a christmas card for her I knew immediately what I would do. What a joy. I find it more and more difficult  each year to come up with new xmas card designs. So below is the electronic email version of the card and the hard copy christmas card.

Christmas poster.

I was asked at work to design a poster to invite the staff at the hospital to christmas lunch. I had very little time to throw it together so I borrowed a design I had used a few years earlier on a christmas card and drew a very quick illo to plonk in the middle. They did not end up choosing this one but instead went for a very conservative option, but this was my fav.

Pet portrait.

My latest pet portrait for a beautiful dog called Sebe. Sadly he has passed away but his owner can now see him every day on the wall in her home.

Coffee over looking the river.

A group of us meet for coffee today at the Bethesda Hospital Cafe. Who would ever believe a hospital could have such a great cafe with such a fabulous view. That would make anybody better I am sure.

A few more of my Bali photos. We had a fabulous time. We went with 8 other people and spent the entire week laughing. My husband and I went to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary. Unbeknown to us our friends had organised an impromptu tongue in cheek anniversary ceremony. It was a riot. So much fun and very special.

Honey logo.

This was a really great, fun design job. Creating a logo and label design for honey supplier. I have learn't a quite bit about bees and honey in the process not to mention receiving some delicious jars of honey along the way. My husband has been quite inspired and would like to try his hand at a bee hive in our garden.

Spring blossoms.

Beautiful blossoms from the garden on the little telephone table I rescued from the verge. It was a dark rosewood colour when I found it but I freshened it up with a coat of white paint. Amazing what a little  paint will do.

Relaxing coffee morning in Subiaco.

This morning we had a lovely coffee morning in Subiaco. Nothing like having coffee on a week day. Always lots to see and enjoy in Subi. We started of at Boucla a beautiful greek cafe. I love going there because it is dark, and cosy and very atmospheric. Even romantic. I always feel like I am on a first date when ever I go there. Well almost.

Custom pet portraits.

This one was inspired by my friend Karen who owns a belovered corgi. Karen and her husband did have two corgi's but very sadly one died earlier this year. One is called Suzie and the other Junior. Our cat is 18 now and he is the love of our life. I dread to think how we will feel if anything was to happen to him. I must make time to do his portrait.

Cute cafe.

I caught up with friends at Sayer Sisters cafe yesterday. It was so cute. I highly recommend it. After a leisurely coffee and chat I said goodbye and headed back to my car to drive home. To my horror I saw a little piece of white paper under my windscreen wiper. Oh no I thought not a parking ticket!!! I opened the paper with caution to find much to my relief and delight it was a note from a friend who was passing and had recognised my car. What a photographic memory he has. How do people do that? I don't know even know what my number is.

I was asked by one of my friends to create a portrait of her cat so I had fun creating these images for her. I did the one on the right first and then tried a more colourful version, the one on the right. It will be interesting to see which one she prefers.

Children's illustrations.

Finally I am back. Well I haven't actually been away… just very busy. Funny how it always all comes at once. I guess being the start of the new financial year probably has something to do with it. Anyway I did this illustration for the Occupational Therapy Department at the children's hospital. It was a fun job and still a few more to go. I love getting paid to draw pictures. Pretty cool job.

Winter weekend away.

Gosh where did that weekend go? It was wet, wet, wet but we didn't mind at at all … well maybe the wet feet in a leaking 1959 car wasn't that great but it was cosy and invigorating. Another good thing is that you don't have to worry about your hair because it is impossible to have a hair style with rain and wind and beanies. You just have to live with with squashed, flat, frizzy, limp hair. Lucky we all know each other pretty well.

We are off with a bunch of friends from the car club this weekend. Yahhh. It is always loads of fun. We revert to teenagers and play silly pranks on each other, drink, eat and go for long drives in the winter green countryside, top off the car and keeping warm with our beanies and scarves. Not something we get to do a lot of in Australia. One year we convinced some new comers that we were a swingers club. We aren't of course, but it was fun pretending.

I did a silly thing today. I wore two different ankle boots to work! What a wally I am. They were at least the same colour but one had a rounded toe and other was pointed. They were slightly different heights as well. The funny thing is I had just moved all my shoes from one side of the wardrobe to the other because the light was better on that side. I think I should have left them in the dark. Away it gave everybody at work a laugh. They say life is stranger than fiction.

The difference between retro and vintage.

Well I learnt the difference between retro and vintage tonight. I guess I have always known but have never really stopped to think about it. Retro means that something is new but has been inspired by something old. Vintage means that something is actually old. Retro design is usually referring to the 1940's to 1970's.

Anyway I have been inspired to design some retro/vintage custom logos for my Etsy shop.

An environmental logo that is not green.

As you can see I am obsessed with designing logos at the moment. I am trying to build up my Etsy shop range of logos. I have a long way to go. This is an environmental friendly logo suitable for anything earthy, healthy, natural or organic. I have called this one Lemon Cello, official spelling is Limoncello. It is a yummie Italian lemon liqueur, sweet and refreshing. It provides all the intense zest of fresh lemons with out the sourness. This is very true of logos. It makes them easy to reproduce and remember which is exactly what you want for your business. This logo is perfect for a product that is soft, feminine or girlie. It would also work well for a personal insignia.
