Sunset.

Driving home from work I saw this amazing sunset. I pulled off to the side of the road and got out my telephone an took a shot. It always amazes me the quality you can get on a phone.

Sunset or sundown, is the daily disappearance of the Sun below the western horizon as a result of Earth's rotation. The time of sunset is defined in astronomy as the moment when the trailing edge of the Sun's disk disappears below the horizon. Near to the horizon, atmospheric refraction causes the ray path of light from the Sun to be distorted to such an extent that geometrically the Sun's disk is already about one diameter below the horizon when sunset is observed.

Instant logo.

Now you can buy a logo and add your own business name in a program like Word or Indesign. I have placed the word Emma here but you would add your own name or business. This is a quick easy way to have a professional logo quickly and be up and running straight away.

There is always the option of getting me to add your business name if you would rather.

1950's fashion.

I saw this image on a wall while travelling but I cannot for the life of me remember where. I think it was either in Melbourne or Tasmania. I LOVE the fashion's from the fifties, especially Dior.

The style adopted by women in the '50s is best defined as feminine, sensuous and elegant. The hourglass figure was majorly highlighted by the outfits worn. As compared to the silhouettes of short skirts and wide shoulders worn in the forties, fashion in the fifties evolved to fuller calf-length skirts and soft shoulder lines that enhanced a woman's figure.

This post-war period stands out in the history of fashion owing to some radical changes that came about. The minimalistic approach towards clothing that was taken in the earlier decade saw an end and there was a renewed passion for dressing up well, and with panache. Dressing up impeccably was a way of life. Fashion saw an emergence of consumer-driven attitude like never before.

Beauty care brochure cover.

I was looking through some old work and came across this cover I designed for a beauty therapist. I had forgotten what far infrared therapy was so I looked it up.
Far Infrared is the 'warm' energy in humans, animals and plants, also emitted from sunlight. The intensity of Far Infrared produced by the human body constantly fluctuates. When its intensity is high, we feel healthy and are able to overcome ailments. When the Far Infrared (FIR) begins to decline, we are subject to disease and illness and tend to age more quickly. We can be exposed to Far Infrared heat for hours and it will never cause our skin to burn. Far Infrared heat is completely healthy and safe for all living things.

Fashion logo.

Some of the things I keep in mind when designing a logo are:

A logo should be an appropriate representation of the brand it is to represent.

A logo should also be timeless, meaning that it won’t look outdated ten years after it’s created.

Keep it simple. Keep in mind where the logo will used. It should look clearly visible on a computer screen and websites. It should also be easy to see when used at a smaller size when printed on letterheads, business cards, publications and documents. I think simplicity is the key to a good logo. A quote I love and to me says it all "simplicity is the ultimate sophistication". In other words "less is more".

Stuffed antelope's head.

Everything old is new again. While wandering around the Tasmanian Museum and Art GalleryI came across this stuffed antelope head? It had to be photographed, of course. It did make me stop and think a little. I thought I would do a little research and found these iinteresting thoughts at http://www.nytimes.com

It is all a matter of degree. ''As long as it is not endangered, is over 50 years old and is not a cat, I am O.K. with having it in my house,'' said Mitchell Owens, the interior design director of Elle Decor magazine.

''People are looking for intimacy, coziness, a more personal touch,'' said Lucy Sykes, style director at Marie Claire magazine.

But while animal rights advocates have a hard time convincing people to give up leather shoes and upholstery, Eric Goode got hate mail over a pair of stuffed Dobermans that stood in the entry hall of M.K., a club he opened in the late 80's. But it didn't quell his enthusiasm. ''I hadn't had them killed,'' he said. ''I had gotten them at a dog mortuary.'' His personal collection of stuffed animals includes a pouncing tiger and a baby English bulldog.

Tasmania.

I am back. My husband and I have been to one of our favourite places... Tasmania. Tasmania is the Australian island state, located south east of Australia being separated from Australia by the Bass Strait, Tasmania is the 26th largest island in the world.

The early settlers were mostly convicts and military guards, tasked with developing agriculture and other industries. Numerous convict settlements were made in Van Demon's Land, including secondary prisons, such as the harsh penal colonies at Port Arthur.
We had a wonderful time driving around in a camper van and seeing the beautiful costal areas and country towns. It was lovely and cool too. So nice to escape the heat of Perth for a few days.
