Simple wedding invitation.

It is 40 degrees in Perth today and has been since christmas day and is set to continue until Thursday. It is hot!!!! So I am sweltering in front of the computer with the air conditioner and fan blasting away. It is too hot to do anything else. Roll on Thursday. I am working on some new wedding stationery designs to take my mind off the heat. Certainly can't do any gardening or painting that I had planned to do.

Ginger Bread house.

If you look carefully you will see my gingerbread house in the background of the photo. Because it was my first ever attempt to make a GB house it is a little or rather a lot rough around the edges so I thought a soft focus shot was called for. I could not find my fine icing nozzle so I have gone for the chunky look. I will try again next year. Of course I did find my nozzle as soon as I had finished.

Christmas in our new home.

We had our first christmas in our new home. We had a great day with family and friends and enjoyed a delicious traditional christmas meal cooked by my clever husband. Thank goodness I have a husband who can cook. My contribution for the day is cleaning up before hand and after and decorating the table. The weather was the only negative thing .... 38 degrees or was it 40 degrees anyway very, very hot.... but that is pretty normal for Christmas in Western Australia. No snow for us, although I did make my first gingerbread house ever and it had snow. I have discovered that snow is perfect for covering up the wobbly bits.

Dec the tree.

We bought a fantastic big xmas tree today. Normally we have a teeny, weeny christmas tree which looks very cute. I love decorating the tree so this year I will have two to decorate. Dismantling them is never as much fun. Puddy came over straight away to investigate and see what was going on. Looking for his pressie no doubt. I wish he could talk.

Our new, old home.

This is a photo taken in our new, old, more homely home. It is a little shabby chic....thats a kinder way of saying ... in need of renovation.

Back again.

Well I am back. We have just moved house so have been busy packing and then unpacking, but starting to get back to normal now. We have been without an internet connection for 6 days so great to be back online. This is our second move in just over a year. We moved from an old worldy house to a very contemporary house and it just was not us, so we sold up and bought a retro house. It is pretty run down and desperately in need of a kitchen and bathroom reno but we could not be happier. This will be the 3rd house we have renovated. We love having floor boards again. At least I can hear my husband walking up behind me now instead of jumping out of my skin every time he comes into a room. We have a garden again too. We have gone from a 261 sq mtr block to an 836. Well I guess I had better get my old painting jeans on and get busy.

Remembrance Day.

I found this red poppy on the ground a couple of days after Remembrance day. (Poppy day or Armistice day). It is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since World War 1 to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. I had seen some real red poppy's growing on a verge that I was planning to photograph but never quite got there so my find was perfect for what I had in mind.  It is a popular day because in the greek calendar the 11/11 is a Saints Name Day... St Mena.

Christmas menu

Today I was asked to design a christmas menu for a special lunch being organised to thank hospital volunteers for their help and support during the year. The deadline was "yesterday"...of course, so I used an illustration (doodle really) I had created a week ago in a quiet moment. I changed the colours and voila.... a christmas menu. I love it when a that happens. I had to give my visuals to the client to take away and show the exec so I quickly took a shot on my mobile phone.

Shadow, shadow on the wall..........

I noticed this shadow while washing the dishes and looking out of the kitchen window. I thought it would make an interesting photo.

Typographic christmas card design.

You may not be able to read the quote below on the card. It says... "Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry christmas." Peg Bracken.

Christmas flowers.

I used my yellow mellow flowers from my invitation posted earlier to create a christmas card design. I have changed the colours and the scale to give more of a christmas look.

A partridge in a pear tree.

I am liking red and blue this christmas. A friend saw this design and said she "liked the chook in the tree". I said it's not a chook it's a partridge!

Ferris wheel Fremantle.

On Friday night we went out with some friends to celebrate my husbands birthday. We walked past this giant ferris wheel which I had not seen before. I only had my mobile phone camera with me but could not miss the opportunity to take a photo.

Decorative script wedding invitation.

A classic simple invitation featuring the bride and groom's initials in a decorative script font. Beautifully simple and elegant. Shame about the unfortunate combination of initials!!!  ha ha .....

Beautiful bedroom.

This photo was taken in a gift shop in Launceston, Tasmania.  Beautiful.....sweet dreams. Just imagine breakfast in bed. How nice would that be?

Contemporary wedding invitations.

I have had a computer free long weekend except for spending half an hour or so to design this self promotional flyer to advertise my wedding stationery. I could not possibly go the whole weekend with out a bit of design work (or should I say computer nerd stuff). Never in a million years did I ever imagine I would be a computer nerd!!!!

Lovely surprise.

On Monday night when I arrived home my husband said to me. "Would you like to go for a walk this evening?". "Yes" I said "that would be nice" and then he said.."you might want to take this with you"... and presented me with a new Nikon camera." My old one has not been working well lately. Wow what a surprise!!!!! .... and it wasn't even my birthday. What a lovely husband. So below is one of my first photos from my new camera.

Pick a colour.

It always amazes me what a difference colour can make. This invitation is a square folding card with a band that wraps around the invitation with the bride and grooms name and wedding date. Perfect for a spring wedding.

Wedding invitation in yellow and grey.

Pretty time consuming drawing these flowers but I was pleased with the result.
This invitation is a single card printed one side in two colours.
